Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder of Epigamia, a prominent Greek yogurt brand in India, passed away on December 21 at the age of 42 due to a cardiac arrest. The news was confirmed through an official statement from Drums Food International, the parent company of Epigamia.

A graduate of NYU Stern and The Wharton School, Mirchandani founded Drums Food International in 2013. Under his leadership, the company transformed from Hoki Poki ice cream into Epigamia, a household name in yogurt and dairy products. With over 20,000 retail touchpoints across 30 cities, the company was also preparing for an expansion into the Middle East by 2025-26.

Epigamia’s senior leadership team, including Ankur Goel (COO and founding member) and Uday Thakker (co-founder and director), will continue to manage the company with full backing from the board of directors, Mirchandani’s family, and key investors such as Verlinvest and DSG Consumer Partners.

“Rohan was our mentor, friend, and leader,” Goel and Thakker said in a joint statement. “We are committed to carrying forward his dream with strength and determination.”

The board of Epigamia also honored Mirchandani’s legacy, describing him as a “visionary leader” whose dedication and passion left a profound mark. “We will collaborate closely with the leadership to elevate Rohan’s legacy to even greater heights,” the statement added.

Mirchandani’s passing follows other significant losses in India’s startup ecosystem, including Pepperfry co-founder Ambareesh Murty and Good Capital’s Rohan Malhotra.

Mirchandani was known for his innovative mindset and often shared his “eureka moment” during a business school lecture in Mumbai, which led him to address the lack of innovation in India’s FMCG sector. His ambitious vision for Epigamia included scaling its revenue to ₹250 crore in FY25 and expanding into quick commerce.
