Is Rohit Sharma a burden on Team India? The Indian captain has been awfully out of form and questions are being raised on his place in the side. Rohit last scored a hundred against England in Dharamsala in March 2024. He failed miserably against Bangladesh and New Zealand before being bamboozled in Australia. It’s not just the lack of runs, but he hasn’t looked like scoring runs against top-quality bowling. His critics have not taken the shambolic show well and calls for his axe from the Test team are on the rise.

However, Rohit has been a great servant for team India and deserves some backing. The captain himself knows he needs to score runs for the sake of the team, and for himself. Being the senior pro, he won’t like being part of the team and not contributing, and the skipper is leaving no stone unturned to get back to form in the fourth Test.

In an intense training session on Sunday, Rohit was spotted practicing with a baseball bat in a bid to fine-tune his batting technique ahead of the crucial fourth Test.

Meanwhile, Rohit was also seen clutching an ice pack to his knee, raising concerns about a potential injury. However, pacer Akash Deep brushed aside speculations about a serious injury to Rohit and confirmed the captain would be fit to play the Boxing Day Test.

“Injuries like these keep happening when you play. I don’t think it will matter much and he’s okay. He will be seen playing in the Melbourne Test match. There is nothing to worry about,” Deep told the reporters.

Meanwhile, the teams will head to the Boxing Day Test with the series tied at 1-1. Both teams would be desperate to win the fourth Test as it would secure at least a draw in the series. Both teams need a series win to keep World Test Championship final chances afloat.
